Micro:bits Workshop

Lesson: Information and communication technology

Y4 and Y5 enjoyed a Micro:bits session this week led by Jam Coding where they developed their coding
skills using a new piece of digital technology. The children had to learn to write the code, so they could
play two different games on the micro:bit. They had to use their resilience when overcoming any
problems, if the code didn’t work as they intended. They also added more code independently as they
gained in confidence. It was lovely to see everyone being successful in learning a new skill. The staff

learnt lots of new skills too.

Tasneem (Y5):’The hot potato was fun because we played as a group and I enjoyed the coding leaders
joining in too.’
James (Y4): The tug of war was fun because you can play with your friends, but on a micro:bit, so you
don’t fall over like in a real tug of war.’
