The Eco Committee leads the whole school in the journey to become more sustainable. The committee comprises of children who represent the school from Y1-Y6. It is the Eco-Committee’s role to work with children and staff in our school to make it a more environmentally friendly place.
The committee works tirelessly to achieve its goals identified in the Eco Action Plan. Their work involves organising visitors, workshops and activities which inspire, motivate and engage all classes into a whole school approach. These goals centre on the nine Eco-Schools topics. Successful implementation of the topics can result in the highest of accreditations: the ‘Green Flag School Status’.
We are extremely proud to have been awarded this status not once but TWICE! Our latest Green Flag accreditation letter included the following statement:
‘Well done Thorn Grove Primary School! The school are obviously aware of Eco issues and make every effort to embed this in their day to day activities. They have had considerable success in getting all the pupils on board in their drive to reduce litter, and the Eco Warriors are particularly enthusiastic ambassadors for this and encouraging others to be aware of energy consumption and waste.’
