    STAR OF THE WEEK

    Isaac Waring

Isaac is a quiet and deadly member of Year 2.  He has excellent maths skills and has worked hard in his maths group to learn a lot of new strategies.   This has shown in his excellent maths Spy Quiz score.  We also know in class that we should always listen to Isaac’s ideas because he is an excellent reader and has great understanding of most topics.  He’s had to be brave too as he has had to work really hard to improve his writing.  This is something he finds a challenge but his Mum has told me that he’s bought a new pad and pen so I can’t wait to see him turn into a writer as well as a mathematician.

Well done Isaac, Year 2 is proud of you.

    Logan

Some children start the year with a really clear idea of what they need to do to succeed. Some children have to try a lot harder to find out what works and what doesn’t. I am really proud of Logan for the progress that he has made in all areas of his learning.  Logan has very good ideas and is a very good mathematician and reader and he has learned that it helps to listen to other people who can help him with his work.  He has learned how to make good choices and has lots of really good friends in the class.  He has also spent time practicing his handwriting so that his writing is as good as his ideas.

Well done Logan, Year 2 is proud of you.

    6x and 7x and 9x and 12x tables

    aiming for KS2 Gold certificate

I have decided to take a step back with those children who already have their KS2 bronze or silver awards as they have made such good progress on their times tables.  Now we will be focusing on consolidating their 2x, 5x and 10 facts through missing number and division inverse problems.  We will still test these on Thursdays so please make sure that your child has spent enough time practicing through the week to help them know the facts and the inverse operations.  We aim to complete the sheet in less than 3 minutes so you can help your child by looking for patterns, practicing in order and challenging your child to a quiz.  All of the children should be logged in to Times Tables Rock Stars so please encourage them to practice using the different activities and games website.

Hearing your child read each night is really important but it’s also important to:

    • read alongside your child so that they can see you read
    • talk about the story or book, the characters and what might happen next
    • Read in other ways; using the internet, Bug Club, comics or your local library

I have added work to the online learning platforms.
