for always having a fantastic attitude. Whenever she is in the classroom, Emily is focused and wants to do her best – even when it the task in hand is a tricky one. Miss Freebairn and Mrs McEvoy are super proud of you, Emily!

    Well done!

    This week’s Showstopper is: Holly

Click here to see Holly’s wonderful representations of the 4 seasons in our Science lesson last week.

Spellings – Spellings are sent home with homework on a Friday and tested weekly on the following Wednesday. You will find your child’s most up to date spelling list in their Homework book. Can they beat last week’s score?

Reading – Your child will change their books on the same day each week – details of this can be found on the front of their yellow reading record. Please ensure your child has their books with them on this day. Don’t forget to log in the reading record to show when you have read with your child.

Phonics – Children take part in daily phonics sessions as part of the ‘Read Write Inc’ phonics programme. Please find below links to the speed sounds chart which outlines the letters and sounds that the children will progress through over the year. You can also find a guide to the letter formation rhymes that we use in school to support your child with correct letter formation at home.

Our P.E sessions this half term are as follows:
    Indoor P.E – Tuesday
Outdoor P.E – Thursday (These sessions may be replaced with Forest School sessions in due course).

Your child should have their P.E kit in school at all times and these will be sent home at the end of each half-term to be washed during the holidays.

04.09.29 – I am so pleased with how the children have begun to settle into Year 1. So far, the children have come into the classroom each day with beautiful big smiles on their faces! During this week we will mostly be focusing on settling the children in, as well as agreeing our class rules and setting expectations for the year ahead. If you have any questions or queries, feel free to speak to me at the end of the school day. Miss Freebairn.
