STAR OF THE WEEK
THIS WEEK’S SHOW STOPPER
This week’s Showstopper is: Nyla
Click on the link to see Nyla’s amazing portrait sketch. We took inspiration from the work of Pablo Picasso in our art lesson this week and used different colours to show emotions. How do you think the man in Nyla’s portrait is feeling?
Spellings – Spellings are tested weekly on a Thursday afternoon. You will find your child’s most up to date spelling list in their blue spelling book. Can they beat last week’s score?
Reading – Your child will change their books on the same day each week – details of this can be found on the front of their yellow reading record. Please ensure your child has their books with them on this day. Don’t forget to log in the reading record to show when you have read with your child.
Phonics – Children take part in daily phonics sessions as part of the ‘Read Write Inc’ phonics programme. Please find below links to the speed sounds chart which outlines the letters and sounds that the children will progress through over the year. You can also find a guide to the letter formation rhymes that we use in school to support your child with correct letter formation at home.
One piece of literacy and numeracy homework will be sent home every Friday, to be returned by Wednesday at the latest. Please remind your child to put it in the homework box in the classroom.
