Our Fantastic New Garden..

Last week I posted a photograph of the work being done on the Nursery garden. The children were very excited – we had lots of conversations about what we thought the new garden would look like and the things we would like to have in it.

After a week and a half of construction, the new play area is now complete and the children are thrilled! Take a look…

The amazing treehouse!

It is a vast improvement on what we had before:

Manchester City Football Festival

Today  we were immensely proud of some of  our Reception and Year 1 children who took part in a football tournament at the Manchester City training ground along with 11 other schools.  We showed determination, team work,  great sportsmanship and immense enthusiasm.  Both myself and Mrs Denford were extremely privileged to take such a fabulous group to the event.

Thank you also to our wonderful parents who came along to support the event!  You had the best view!

Here are a few high-lights

World Book Day in Year 4

We had a fantastic World Book Day last week in Year 4. The children came to school dressed up as different words. We started the day with a cat walk in the classroom, showing off our costumes and guessing what words we had all come as.

Later on we explored the definitions of the words, and created a word wall which is up in our classroom. We have been using the wall in our literacy lessons to make our stories from other cultures even more exciting!

Secret Reader!

Many thanks to Isaac’s Mum who shared a wonderful story called ‘Lost and found’ by Oliver Jeffers.

We are so lucky to have stories read by special visitors! Thank you!

Happy Mother’s Day from Year 2

Today we were talking about writing Happy Mother’s Day. When we were talking, we realised how many different languages  we can speak.

The picture is of Mummy in:

Cantonese

Guajarati

Arabic

Urdu

Welsh

We would all like to say:

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all of our lovely Mums.

Author visits Reception

We had an extra special visit from Morag Dennett who shared two wonderful stories about a character called Bebo.  We were all completely fascinated by these colourful books.  Later we had some great questions to ask a real author and enjoyed participating in some follow up activities linked to the books.

Remember books are still available to purchase, return your forms asap or speak to Mrs Arnold.
